When You Give Your Love To Me

December 15, 2012 by John Leave a Comment

My year end, sappy-love-song-montage set to the music of one of my favorite songs, When You Give Your Love To Me, by Kevin Gilbert. Kevin (now deceased) made some fantastic music and I would encourage you to visit KevinGilbert.com to listen to more of his great songs. We take you along for many of the events and rides that we had over the year. Jessie has developed into a most dependable horse and I think we have built a strong bond with one another. Most of this footage was shot by wife Ranae who does a great job with the tools we have despite having to work under the iron thumb of a dictatorial director and two cantankerous actors. Thanks, Baby Doll.

Fun with Groundwork

December 14, 2012 by John Leave a Comment

If you practice Downunder Horsemanship you know the importance of groundwork. It can also be a bit tedious and boring. Here is our attempt at making groundwork just a little more fun. We take Dusty out to the trail and find some obstacles to tackle including desensitizing him to a motor bike.

It’s the Rematch in the Weedpatch! This is a continuation of our first video on our Horse H-O-R-S-E competition. Ranae and I head out to the Kern River area looking for new ways to challenge our horses and improve our horsemanship. Who will get the edge this time? Will it be Dusty or Jessie? Come along for the ride and find out. Enjoy!

Rally Horse One

December 14, 2012 by John Leave a Comment

We take K-9 Rally Obedience signs with us on our ride for fun and games. You’ll notice from some of my previous videos that I’ve done some dog obedience training, too. We have the horses do a little cross training using the rally obedience cards. They have commands on them that say ‘go fast’ and ‘turn right’ and we set up a course out in a big field and put our horses and horsemanship to the test.

Happy Birthday, Mate!

December 14, 2012 by John Leave a Comment

Our birthday tribute to Clinton Anderson. The gals in the No Worries Club challenged members to produce a video wishing Clinton a Happy Birthday. On short notice we put together a cute little fictional play to tease the old boy a bit. We never heard if he actually saw it or not. No actors were harmed in the making of this video, although their profession was irreparably damaged. Happy Birthday, Mate!

Ep 225 Whoa Podcast News

Ep 225 Whoa Podcast News Welcome to the Whoa Podcast about Horses and Horsemanship. There's no guest today, just me, and I've got some important news to share about the future of this podcast. So, saddle up and stick around. When I began this journey in 2012, I did not know where it would lead. I had come to horses late in life. I hadn’t grown up in the Western culture or in the horse world. I had owned my horse long enough to know how … [Read More...]
